A Dentist In Taichung

Hello, my name is Eric. I’m a dentist in Taichung. I have practiced here for 5 years. I am fluent in Japanese and English, so I have a lot of patients from overseas.

I realize how difficult it is for foreigners to find a good dentist who is fluent in their languages. Lack of solid communication adds undue stress to the already stressful situation of seeing a dentist; whether it’s for emergencies or for routine oral care.

It’s important to continue to service your oral health on a long term basis.

Unfortunately, most people delay their oral care until it’s too late. Regular check-ups are necessary for everyone, even if there is no pain or an apparent problem.

I am equally experienced and qualified to service your preventative oral care and any more serious dental issues you may have. In addition to my qualifications and language skills, my clinic is a modern, hi-tech facility with a superb staff. Also,  Taiwan’s health care system makes it very convenient and affordable to help provide you with the best treatment.

About myself

I received my degree and dental license from China Medical University (CMU) in Taichung. Because of my passion for my profession, I returned to school and currently I am pursuing a PhD in Orthodontics. I have published numerous articles in my field. Right now my research focuses on Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) to improve the tooth alignment and appearance. My goal is always to take care of my patients and help them to maintain their oral health.

I pursued a career in dentistry because I believe it’s important to take care of our health. So in my personal life, I participated in different athletic endeavors. I started running in marathons in 2019, because I realized the long term health benefits. I still participate in marathons and triathlons around the country. I also enjoy the fellowship that the community offers.

In addition to marathon running, I also like scuba diving. My first experience in scuba diving was in college, and I fell in love with it immediately. I always enjoyed new adventures, but I also appreciate the peace of mind that solitude could give me.  Diving fulfills both of these feelings. What’s more, every dive is a new world for me and it keeps me stimulated.

About my clinic

I work in three different clinics:  Liàng Lì Jing, Cháng Shèng, Xīn Yà. I started my internship during college in Liàng Lì Jing, and I was impressed by the quality of equipment and materials they used. I also found that their dedication to safety and hygiene is the highest standard.

Personally, the owner mentored me from being a student to being a qualified dentist. I am grateful for his guidance.

All of the clinics offer excellent service with state of the art equipment. In particular, Liàng Lì Jing can provide a crown in one day.

The staff are well trained. Our procedure ensures that the service will be prompt and pleasant. Even if you are a foreigner, you will feel comfortable and relaxed.

About NHI (National Health Insurance) system

Taiwan has an internationally praised health care system. And dental service is part of the program. In addition to the citizens, all legal foreign resident can also benefit from the system. All citizens and qualified residents are issued a NHI (National Health Insurance) card, and it allows you to conveniently access the health care system.

The government pays for most of the cost of the health service. For example, wisdom tooth extraction in Taiwan is basically free. A patient only needs to pay the appointment fee of around 100NTD. This same procedure in the US would cost thousands of USD.

Foreigners who live here because of marriage, work or school are entitled to an NHI card. In addition to the quality, there is a multitude of health care providers to choose from.

Everyone should have a dental check and tooth cleaning twice a year. In many countries, people don’t do this because of the cost and the inconvenience. In Taiwan the cost is not a factor and there is an abundance of dental clinics available around the country.

Sample of NHI card. Sample is provided by the NHI Administration.

The NHI does not cover all procedures. Please consult with the doctor or with the NHI to ask about your procedure’s cost.

What you are looking for in a dentist

Going to a dentist in any country can be stressful. In a foreign country this stress feels magnified — especially when there’s a language barrier. I am fluent in English and Japanese, so that’s one of the many reasons why I can help you alleviate your stress and provide you the best dental service.

Another stress factor— the cost—is alleviated by the NHI. Because of the health care system, regular check-ups are convenient and practically at no cost. Twice a year check-ups are essential to maintain your oral hygiene and overall health. For a regular check-up, the fee is only around 100NTD.

Welcome to Taiwan and I hope your stay here will be pleasant and healthy.
